If Mickey Mouse is regarded as the king of the Disney universe, his sweetheart Minnie would certainly be the queen. Their relationship has had lots of ups and downs over the years, partly due to Minnie's tendency to get easily impressed by other suitors. However, there are few other Hollywood couples who can claim to have been part of such an impressive and loving romance which has lasted a few decades short of a century. Minnie is usually very cheerful and positive and always tries her best to help those around her. She does however have quite a temper, which she will unleash without any notice towards anyone who angers her, especially towards Mickey if he forgets one of their many dates. Her best friends includes Daisy Duck, Donald Duck's girlfriend, and Clarabelle Cow. Mickey and Minnie's history together goes way back to their simultaneous screen debut in the Disney short Steamboat Willy from 1928. Although Plane Crazy was the first cartoon starring Minnie Mouse to be produced, Disney didn't have a distributor when the cartoon was finished due to his fallout with Universal. The completed cartoon was therefore not officially released until March 17 1929, which was then adapted into a sound version. Minnie had by then already had her screen debut November 18 1928 with the sound cartoon Steamboat Willie, which was the third cartoon starring Mickey and Minnie to be produced, but the first one to be released.
