About Rate the Toon
Rate the Toon is designed to be a fun and entertaining way to vote your opinion about cartoon characters from all kinds of different animations. Many people seem to limit themselves to enjoy cartoons from a limited genre or animation studio only. But why limit yourself to one flavor, when there are so many exciting cartoons available? We hope that by seeing toons that are not usually listed next to each other more people will widen their vision and seek out different kinds of cartoons, and by such enrich their animation experience. But, if we are to compare various toons such as Pikachu, Donald Duck or Bugs Bunny to one another, an inevitable questions rises up; Which toon is the best? That's where you come in, as only you can be the judge of that. So rate the toons until your heart's content, and help us establish who is the best toon of all time, regardless of animation studio or place in the animation history. And who knows, you might even come across some forgotten childhood favorites of yours while doing so!

How to Vote
Rating toons is very simple and fun. All you need to do is to select a category of your choice from the Toon Category list on the left hand of the site. The first randomly chosen toon from within that category will then be displayed. A toon card with information about the particular toon you are rating will also be visible, to aid you with your voting decision. Use the voting bar to the left of the toon card to rate the toon on a scale from one to ten, with ten being the highest vote, and click on the rating number of your choice to cast your vote. That's it, simple as that! Once voted a new random toon from that category will automagically be selected for you to rate.

Voting Criterias
The voting bar ranges from one to ten with ten being the highest vote possible. The more you like the toon, the higher you vote, and vice versa. Five is equal to average, and express neither love nor dislike to the particular toon in question. Please note that very few toons deserves a top - 10 - or bottom - 1- vote as these should only be given on rare occasions. If unsure how to place your vote try asking yourself the following question; "Out of all the cartoon characters in the world, how much did this particular toon make you laugh, dream, or cry?". You can only vote once for each toon, so think carefully before placing your vote!

Does it cost anything to use Planet Zot?
Our Rate the Toon service is absolutely free to use and available for all ages, just like all the other sections of Planet Zot. It does however cost money to run, maintain and develop the site, so if you enjoyed Planet Zot and wish to support our work any donations are more than welcome. :)

What is a toon?
A toon is a fictional character from a cartoon or animation feature that is animated by showing illustrated images, may that be hand drawn or computer generated (CGI), in rapid succession in order to give the impression of movement. While the western characterization of toons is often limited to merely comical characters targeted for the younger audience, we at Planet Zot use a wider definition of the term which includes characters from all kinds of genres and animation studios. We believe that the old characterization of western cartoons being limited to children, and Japanese cartoons (anime) targeted to adults is out-dated, and do not longer serve as an adequate distinction. You will therefore see here on Planet Zot a mix of all kinds of animations regardless of their genre, studio and place in animation history. Basically, is it animated then it's a toon, and we will love it, cherish it, and place it here for you to rate it.

Where can I learn more about the cartoons these characters are from?
Each toon card displayed when rating a toon contains information about the particular cartoon character, including the name of the first cartoon the character appeared in. In most cases you will be able to find more information about that particular cartoon, as well as other goodies such as image galleries, wallpapers and avatars, on the cartoon section on our main site, www.planetzot.com

How can I submit a toon you don't currently have?
If you are missing any of your favorite cartoon characters on our Rate the Toon service you are more than welcome to let us know. Simply post the toon's name and information in this topic. Please note that the more information you include about your character, the faster we will be able to add it to the Rate the Toon service. All characters are added manually, so be aware that it may take a while before your toon is ready for rating. We can only accept characters that are from actual cartoons or animation features, so please do not send us your own, original characters as we will not be able to include them.

How can I promote my favorite cartoon character so it gets more votes?
You are free to encourage voting of your favorite cartoon characters by promoting them on your personal blog, website, forum signature or similar, and by such increasing your favorite toon's overall ranking. To do so simply find your favorite toon by searching through the Top 10 category (click on the "next" button at the bottom of the page if your toon has a lower ranking) and click on your toon. At the top of your browser you'll see an address like this: "http://www.planetzot.com/ratetoon/index.php?id=TOON". Change the "TOON" with your toon's ID nr and simply post the link wherever you wish to promote your favorite cartoon character.

Is this site child safe?
Yes, absolutely. We at Planet Zot work actively to keep all the content on all the various sections of Planet Zot suitable for all ages at all time. While some specific characters on our Rate the Toon service may be from animations not targeted to children, we are always careful not to include any text or pictures that may be offensive or not suitable for children.

How is the toon's rank determined?
The highest score are ranked first and any ties are broken by number of votes.

Can you rate the same toon more than once?
No. In order to avoid cheating and ensure a fair competition to all toons you can only vote once per toon. The system only registers your first vote, so if you should happen to place a vote for a toon you have already rated it will simply not be registered.
