RPG Board Rules!
Hey, everyone! ^____^ Welcome to the RPG board! For those of you who are new to roleplaying, this is a place to create stories by playing as a character and interacting with the other members on Planet Zot.
Of course, for every good thing, there need to be rules to keep it that way. Please keep these in mind when you roleplay.
- [1] The characters you play can be based on or come from anything you like. If you make your own character, be sure to write out a general profile for them if nothing else -- that means things like their name, appearance, abilities, personality, and such. Often, the roleplay creator will provide a profile for you to fill out when you join, so keep an eye out for those.
[2] Do not roleplay situations involving offensive elements! Planet Zot is child-friendly and will always remain so. Minor romance and violence is allowed, provided that your topic is branded with a clear warning. Any topic containing material over the PG-13 limit (gore, explicit sexual content, over-the-top swearing, and so on) will be locked, and depending on the degree to which you've broken the rule, you may also receive a warning through PM from myself or another moderator. Repeatedly breaking the rules after being warned will result in a ban for all participants.
[3] Keep proper roleplaying etiquette in mind when you play! That means obvious things like not killing off other players' characters without their permission, but it also means that you should try to let them make decisions for their characters. Don't head down an alleyway and expect them to follow you -- let them decide that. (This also means that you shouldn't roleplay for more than a few pages without the other members' permission; coming back to 50 pages of material to read through can be quite disconcerting.)
[4] All roleplays must have at least 4 players. If you want a roleplay with less than four players, please use the Training Ground or roleplay through PMs.
[5] There must be a storyline for the characters to follow! Without a plot of some sort, you're just posting aimlessly, and your roleplay will more than likely be moved to the Training Ground.
[6] Do not make a post consisting of less than five words. If there's nothing for your character to say, wait for someone else to post.
[7] Characters need to use quotation marks or differently-colored font when they speak. I've seen people who don't use either, and it's very difficult to decide if their character is talking, thinking, or acting.
[8] For anything in your post that doesn't pertain to the roleplay, use this:
OOC: *anything out of character goes here*
Back in character tags are not necessary unless your OOC comment is made in the middle of the post -- I highly recommend making OOC comments at either the top or the bottom of your post, to prevent confusion.
Please note that any roleplay with more than five OOC posts in a row will be moved to the Training Ground for spam. The only exception to this is if you continue roleplaying while you make your OOC comments. (Don't chat here, though.
[9] Sister threads can be made in the Training Ground or Spamalot, and should be used for general out of character discussions about a certain roleplay. That's where you can discuss the plot, what's going on in general, if someone's leaving temporarily/permanently, or something that just happened that you're confused about. There should be only one (if any at all) sister thread for each roleplay, and depending on how well it's going, you may not need one at all.
[10] Roleplays that have not been posted in for more than thirty days may be locked and removed for inactivity.
[11] The thread opener is pretty much the leader of the marching band -- they can decide if an action is valid, the terms on which other people can play, and they should take an active part in following the storyline.
[12] Don't spam. Just don't do it. I don't take kindly to people spamming up my boards, and doing so here can result in some nasty repercussions. Examples of spam in this board are one-word posts, posts consisting only of smileys, and discussing the latest episode of your favorite anime.
If you have any problems or questions, feel free to PM me -- I'll do my best to answer them.
Oh, and one more thing -- don't forget to use the report button. That little red exclamation point at the top of everyone's post? Click on it and provide a reason for your report (for example: explicitly sexual material, spam, gore, and so on -- it doesn't need to be too detailed) and I'll be notified when you submit it.
