Hello, and welcome to Planet Zot! 
Planet Zot Forums is a friendly online community dedicated to cartoons and animation in general. In here you will find people from all over the world discussing and sharing opinions about their favorite cartoons and everything cartoon related, and most importantly, having lots of fun. 
So, now that you have registered one of the first thing you might like to do is to start playing with your davvie. The davvies are virtual dolls used as a cartoon representation of the users on the Planet Zot forums, and are often customized to resemble a specific cartoon or video game character.

You may notice that with exception of the basic features such as hair styles and face expressions, you don't have yet any clothes or items to equip on your davvie except from an old morning robe. That is because you have to earn each item you wish to equip. Each davvie can be further enchanted by the use of items bought with stardust coins. Stardust is the virtual currency used on Planet Zot, and it's earned by simply participating at the forums. So let's start earning!
The easiest and most entertaining way to earn stardust is by participating on the forums. That's right; you will earn stardust just by posting! But you can't just go ahead and post whatever you want just to get stardust, there are some rules to follow.
Here's the short version of the most important forum rules:
1. No flaming, trolling, excessive swearing, or use of offensive or vulgar language or content
This is a nice place, so be nice to others when posting!
2. No Spam
This means making posts consisting just of nonsense. All posts must have a point and must stick to the subject that is being discussed in the topic.
3. No piracy/warez
Discussions related to where and how to get hold of pirate or illegal material are not allowed.
4. No multiple accounts or user impersonations
Only one account per member and one member per account.
5. No advertisement
The only place you can discuss or advertise for other sites and forums is in your signature and in the Cool Site board on the forum.
6. No begging for stardust and/or items
Everyone is saving up for something, so begging for donations is not allowed.

Now that you are aware of the rules, you can start posting. So why don't you start by introducing yourself to community? To do so just go to the "Introductions and Absences" board and start a new topic. Try to include a little bit about yourself so that others can get to know you. For instance, you can write about what cartoons you like, or who your favorite cartoon characters are. Everyone here are really friendly, so you'll make friends in no time. 
After having introduced yourself you may want to continue posting in the forum. Just browse around in the various boards and participate in topics that interest you. Make sure that you always try to be polite and that you stay on topic (meaning that you don't post things unrelated to the discussion you are participating in) when posting. Remember that the more time you spend writing a post, and the more friendlier you are, the more stardust will you earn for posting, and the more people will reply to your post.

- What do you think about the Inu-Yasha show?
- What music are you listening to right now?
Now that you have made a few posts you may have noticed that you have earned a little bit of stardust. So why don't you take a look around the shops to see if there's anything you'd like to spend it on?
The Shopping District is located under the 'Shops' button in the header, but you can also click here to get there. Once there you can click on the various shops to see the clothes and items they sell. You will quickly notice that some of the prices there can be pretty harsh, especially if you go to the X-Clusivo, the most expensive shop on Zot. But don't be afraid, it's pretty easy to earn stardust here, so you will be getting some of the most fancy clothes in no time. But, for the time being, you might want to settle for a cheaper pair of pants and a t-shirt from the Mickey's Fashion shop, as it might be hard at times to be taken seriously by the other members when your davvie is standing in his or her underwear. 
With that said, you might want to take a look at the Recycling Bin project. The Recycling Bin project was founded by Butterfly FX, and is driven by volunteers, who aim to help the newest members by providing used clothes for them. Since the entire project depends entirely on item donations from other members, don't forget to return the favor once you become an established and wealthy member of the community.  You may also strike a bargain at the Auction House. Items are auctioned regularly there for less then store price, so it pays to keep an eye on the auctions there.
While posting is the fastest and easiest way to earn stardust, it is by far the only way. There are in fact a lot of other things you can also do to earn an extra coin or two, from opening your own shop or even take a chance on the PlanetZotian Lottery. So be sure to read through wOwmen's excellent guide to learn all the possible ways to earn stardust. Did you for instance know that you get 1 stardust for each reply a topic you made gets? That trick and many other are all explained in the stardust guide.
Hopefully you've found this guide useful for getting started during your first visit here at Planet Zot. But if you are still a little unsure of how things work, you can request a Guardian Angel  to help you out until you feel you get the hang of this. The Guardian Angel is a program to help new users around the forum during their first week. It consists of more experienced users who volunteer for the program and are assigned to newcomers in order to help them out if they should need any help or advice.
