Princess Iron Fan (Tie Shan Gong Zhu) is China's very first animated feature film, and the 12th full length animation made worldwide. The story is adapted from a Chinese folk tale called "Journey to the West", and evolves around a monk and his three disciples whose journey to obtain holy scriptures is blocked by a wicked and powerful fire, which can only be quenched with the use of Princess Iron Fan's magical fan. The Princess is however reluctant to borrow her precious fan, and much of the story depicts the apprentices' attempts to obtain the fan against the will of the Princess and her husband, the Bull Demon King.
