Episode Reviews NB: This page contains spoilers Episode: 55 55. "Tragedy in the Storms... Soujiro's Past" Kenshin is having a hard fight against the last and strongest member of the Jupongatana, Seta Soujiro. This episode takes a break from all the fight and gives us a flashback of Soujiro's past. Soujiro is tying his shoes while Kenshin waits for him. While he's tying his shoes, Soujiro begins to remember how he met Shishio and how he used to live. He was something like the slave of his family because he was born from a woman other than the wife of his father. He always got punched and kicked, he always had hard work to do and no one would lend a hand to help him. As the time passed he learned that if he swallowed all the pain and just smiled, the people would just leave him alone. He met Shishio by accident. One night he was just treating his wounds and then he heard some cries and there he was, Shishio was slaying some cops one by one. He saw it all and because Shishio was a wanted man, he had to kill the boy in order to keep his location in secret. When he was about to slay the kid, he saw him smiling which made him to stop. He spared the kids life but with one condition: he (Soujiro) had to give him some food, hide him somewhere and give him some bandages to treat his wounds. Soujiro was rather happy of having someone to talk to and he told Shishio about his life and how he was abused by his family. Soujiro told him that it was alright because he was someone unwanted and because of that he was bad. Shishio stared at him and told him, "It's not about where you where born. You are bad because you're weak". He gave Soujiro a Wazaki as a payment for everything he did for him. Time passed and Soujiro thought of the words Shishio told him but then, his family found out he was hiding a rebel and because of that they where willing to kill the boy. They all came with the only intention of killing him. Soujiro ran as fast as he could to escape and then he found a place to hide. Unfortunately they found him and with nothing but his sword at hand he was about to get killed. They he thought, " If you are strong you live. If you are week you die". He then got his sword and slayed his whole family. It was raining and Shishio came out after he heard all the human cries and asked the kid, "Are you crying?" Soujiro then just smiled and told him, "no... no I'm not crying" After that, Soujiro decided to follow Shishio and Shishio took him as his apprentice  Written by Seta_Soujiro
