NB: This page contains spoilers Episode 1 According to legend, God told the animals he was having a party, and not to be late. If they were late, they wouldn't be in the Chinese Zodiac. The mouse wanted to be in the Zodiac, so he tricked the cat. He told the cat the party was the next day after. While the cat was sleeping, the mouse went to the party. the mouse became a part of the Zodiac, while the foolish cat was left out... 16 year old Tohru Honda lives in a tent all by herself in the woods. Her dad died when she was young and her mom died in a car accident. She didn't want to live with her friends or family bacause she thought she would be a burden to them, so her last option was to live in a tent. She plans to finish school in order to fulfill her mother's last wish. She also has a part time job, working nights. In the beginning of episode 1, Tohru introduces herself after saying bye to a picture of her deceased mother, leaving her tent to go to school. On the way she notices a house. She goes there, noticing some stones painted as the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac laying on the entrance floor to dry. She is then startled by a dashing young man in shining armor...*ahem*, just kidding about the armor part. ^.^;; Anyways he's surprised to see that there's a girl nearby. Tohru apologizes for intruding and he says that it's okay. They start to talk about the Zodiac and Tohru mentions that theres no cat. She then tells the man about the story her mom once told her about how the cat was tricked by the mouse. she also mentioned that she was born in the year of the dog, but wants to be the cat. The man is amused, and starts to flirt with her saying he was born in the year of the dog as well-but is interrupted by a young boy. Tohru is surprised to see it's Yuki Sohma, a popular boy from her school known as "the prince." The young man introduces himself as Yuki's cousin,Shigure Sohma. Yuki then offers to walk with Tohru to school. The Yuki 'fan club" sees Tohru with Yuki and confronts her about it. Tohrus friends Uo and Hana chan scare them off. In class they talk about the mysterious Yuki. Yuki and Tohru walk together again after school. she talks about the cat and Yuki says cats are foolish. He walks away and Tohru goes to work. Later that night Shigure and Yuki are walking in the woods, wondering what to do about getting a maid in the house. They then see Tohru going into her tent. They confront her about it(well Yuki did because Shigure was too busy laughing). They tell her that her tent is on Sohma property and Tohru explains her situation. She asks if she can keep her tent there, saying it'll only be a bit longer until her grandfather is done rebuilding the house. Her tent is then covered by a landslide. She falls ill with a fever and they take her inside their house to rest. Before she falls asleep, she tells Shigure about how her mother died. Yuki tells Shigure about how Tohru is always smiling at school. He then goes off to get Tohru's stuff, not accepting Shigures offer to help... Tohru is dreaming about her mom. She then opens her eyes to see a picture of her mom, the one she had in her tent. She is surprised to see it and is greeted by Yuki Sohma, who said he digged all her stuff from her tent that was buried in the landslide. Tohru asked how and he said "It's a secret". He then tells her since she has no place to stay she can stay with them. Tohru says no because she thinks she will be in their way. Shigure asks if she likes to cook and clean and she says yes. Shigure welcomes her and they bring her stuff up to her new room. Yuki and Shigure then go for a walk in the woods. They are wondering if it's a good idea to have a girl living with them. They are being watched from a tree by a young orange hair kid. Tohru is in her new room wearing Yuki's clothes. She is in there with Yuki, who is explaing the reason about the room's condition. There is a creaking sound and the orange haired kid comes crashing down from the ceiling. It's Kyou Sohma and he wants to fight Yuki. He then goes after Yuki but before he could a worried Tohru tries to stop him, sliping on a piece of the ceiling and grabbing Kyou from behind. There is a "poof" sound and some orange smoke. "I'm so sorry!" she says lifting up what appears to be an orange cat where Kyou was. Shigure peeps in to see if it was Kyou making all the noise while Tohru was freaking out saying "He turned into a cat right before my eyes!" She freaks some more thinking he needs medical attention and a board from the ceiling plops on her head. While all this is happening she happens to "huggle" both Shigure and Yuki. There is another poof with a grayish bluish smoke. There in front of Tohru is a rat where Yuki was standing, and a dog where Shigure was standing. Tohru faints while wondering "Mother, what's going on? Everyone turned into animals"...  Written by  Jeannette
